Black Business Association BBA, Mayor's office and LAMBOC Present Hands on Minority/women-owned business certification workshop LOS ANGELES - The Black Business Association (BBA), in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Economic and Business Policy and the Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Center (LAMBOC), will present a Certification Workshop on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Los Angeles Unified School District's Conference Center located at 4201 Wilshire Boulevard. The Certification Workshop will serve as a prelude to the BBA's 7th Annual Procurement Exchange Summit, where certified minority and women owned businesses will take part in matchmaking meetings with corporations, contractors and government entities looking to increase their minority spend. Minority and women entrepreneurs are highly encouraged to attend this very important workshop to learn not only how to become a certified minority and/or women owned business, but also learn the many advantages of certification. Taking advantage of procurement/subcontracting/bid opportunities with major corporations and government agencies is often key to developing and expanding a small business. "On a daily basis we receive procurement announcements and requests for certified and qualified minority and women owned businesses, relative to the provision of goods and services of all kinds. It is extremely important that companies obtain and maintain their certifications to be competitive in the procurement process," said Earl "Skip" Cooper, II, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Black Business Association. The Certification Workshop will allow attendees to learn all the advantages of becoming certified, as well as provide an opportunity to meet face-to-face with certifying agencies to begin the certification process.
Workshop highlights include:
